(bright music) Joseph, he was very healthy when he was born. We took him home, and everything seemed pretty normal. When he was five days old, we had a call from his doctor and they said that his newborn screen came back abnormal for galactosemia. With this disorder, it’s really just timing. If it’s not caught within the first two weeks, there’s a 75% mortality rate. So we brought him to the ER at Albany Med. We were extremely fortunate that, with them being so close, you know, right in our backyard, being able to catch the galactosemia and having someone to go to, it saved Joseph’s life. The good news is that the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center was here when our child needed it.
