How To Prepare For a Job Interview
I feel so proud of you for taking the initiative to learn an instrument and doing the recital. It takes bravery to be vulnerable and is awesome to not focus on perfection! I'm learning the ukulele and I felt such imposter syndrome at the beginning and I can only play riptide but it's so nice and a fun little challenge!
This made me smile. You did great Tyler.
Beautiful performance! I used to play piano at school, you've done well for only 1 year learning!
This is so wholesome <3
But will you continue playing the piano. I love playing
I’ve lowkey wanted to learn piano for so long but I’m also 22 and still feel like I’m too late, so this kinda inspired me!
We're proud of you Tyler!
Awesome bro I love the message that it’s never too late! you’re so cool bro keep on shinning you big bright light. ❤️
Awwww so sweet, I hope you keep playing!😍😍😍
Oohh pls learn an adele song!!! You were amazing Tyler! 🤩🤩🤩
Wow, Tyler! This was amazing! So proud of you!
I AM SOOOO HAPPY FOR YOUUU!!!! He set out to do something, and after a year he can memorize and play that bish!! You go!!!
Good for you!!! It’s never to late to learn!!! Keep living that dream!
I'm like the same age as you and I started learning ballet at the beginning of this year. I can relate a lot lol
there's a relatively easy piece by CPE Bach called solfegietto that i learned when i re-learned the piano. it's about the same level as the prelude that you played here, but its in a minor key. I am so proud of youuuu!!! I hope you learn this piece
With no sheet music?! Damn, go off sis!
Great job Tyler. .Congrats 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Why am I crying? 😂 Tyler you are SUCH and inspiration!!!!! Love you so much. Keeping doing what you’re doing!
This was cute, bb! Glad you found a hobby.
I was most impressed by how you recovered from your memory slips at the end. Concentrating that much for that long when you probably haven't yet learned all the theory behind the chord structure of Bach's C Major prelude yet, which helps with knowing what is probably next and what order the notes are in (chord voicing), is hard–especially when you're nervous and are playing on an unfamiliar piano in an unfamiliar room. You kept going and you tastefully played notes that were in the chord, and the only people who would know that you deviated from the page are the people who have played it before (or are Bach nerds). Any serious performer would tell you that that kind of quick thinking is what separates good performers from great performers. "Mistakes" are inevitable; it's how you recover from them that matters.
Proud of you!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great job Tyler. Amazing performance. Also love the outfit!!!
It's actually super impressive that you memorised it!!! You killed it queen 😍😍🎹🎹🎶🎶
Omg! I haven't even finished the video yet… I had the same kinda goal 5 years ago after a very awful breakup. He is a very accomplished musician. At one conversation he said "just pick up an instrument and learn." He didn't mean it in a nice way… Flash forward, I now play 8 instruments. (Not all perfectly.) My biggest goal was to perform at an open mic. I have done it. It's one of my biggest personal accomplishments. Good for you! It's not easy to just perform. Learning an instrument is like learning a new language. Good job on sticking to your goals!
Me: I should learn an instrument Piano: exists in a place I see everydayAlso me: uses it as a table for stuffed plushies to sit on
Funny how we haven't heard a peep from gaga since your recital
Love love love this
That’s really good progress for a year Tyler! I’m a piano teacher myself so i can appreciate the hard work you’ve put into piano practice. Keep it up!!
Superb Tyler you played soo well 👏👏🔥🔥
Yes bitch! You betta come through with those dynamics! You betta build that tension henty! YAS! I liveeee!
Oh I'm so proud….. I've been watching your videos for so long, this feels like meeting an old friend and being so rpoud of what he is doing…. Well done!
Aw, Tyler I'm so proud of you! I've been playing piano for ten years and recitals are so scary. No one notices the mistakes as much as yourself, you did brilliantly! ❤️
Kudos to you Tyler for your hard work and many hours of practice and to your teacher for her guidance! Very impressive for learning this piece with only 1 year of lessons. Keep it up!
This is fantastic! Being a professional music, people always tell us that they wished they could play an instrument but they’re too old. You’re never too old to learn an instrument!! I love this.
Omg so proud of you!! I guess now you could try recreate Lady Gaga's live performance with piano
Tyler you did wonderfully! Fun fact about that prelude another Gounoud used that exatct prelude for his version of ave maria. Its one of my favorite versions to sing.
Great job Tyler. You made a goal and really committed to it!! 😀 I applaud you!
That's awesome, Tyler! ♥ 🙂
that was such a pretty piece, you did a great job! I was scared for you when you got the piece literally a week before the recital, I could not do that
Watching you made me want to pick up my guitar again
loved this! you played so well for only a years worth of lessons!
I've played for 16 years and after a 5 year break from lessons have just started again and am doing my grade 7 currently. It took me probably a good 3 years to play to the standard you just played!
I was coaching you through your performance out loud 😁 You did it!! That's so awesome that you decided to do something new and stuck with it and look where you are now! Also, I've never heard of someone getting a recital piece one week beforehand!
I wrung my hands and held my breath like a proper parent! WELL DONE!💪🏾🤎
This was so heartwarming and inspiring!!
I’m so dang proud of you!!! Learning piano in only one year and performing Prelude?! You are unstoppable and incredibly talented! Way to go!
This is amazing for only playing for a year!!! I’ve played piano for almost 8 years and I wouldn’t have been able to learn memorize and perform a song this hard in a few days. Good for you Tyler!
Omg this was so cute!! And like…inspiring?? Way to go for it, man!!!
Damn! So proud of you!! I did piano for 10 years from elementary school to high school and I can honestly say that I'm impressed with what you've accomplished in a year. I remember recitals were always the MOST nerve wracking things to do. My teacher would have us pick named out of a bowl and I would dread being last because of the building anxiety. You did so well and kept your cool while playing. GOOD JOB!!!! <3
Tyler that is really good for the time you have been taking lessons. I took lessons for 6 years and enjoy playing, rather for friends or myself at home. Bach is good starter for classical. I enjoy Dustin O'halloran's music, hes had featured music in some movies one being Marie Antoinette a few years ago. They are calming but peaceful pieces. Here is the one I am currently learning. Hope you continue to improve in your music and playing! (link below) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgiQtmszK5w
I stopped playing when I went to college last year after 10 years, this made me wanna practice something ahah.
I'm a Music Education Student in college. I'm a sophomore this year, and all music majors have to learn piano. When you started playing I got flash backs. This was one of the solos i have to do for my piano final freshman year. It's crazy the improvements people can make in such a short time. I hope you keep it up and maybe even learn another instrument. Such a good performance! Yay! It's never to late to learn how to play an instrument.
I absolutely loved this!!!!!! Playing the piano is a goal of mine!
So proud of you Tyler!! Learning music is never too late and you did great!!
Dang I never learned anything good at music lessons. I did guitar for 3 years and can only play basic chords.
I cannot lie- this made me cry! Hearing Bach was beautiful, you played it so beautifully. And I’m just inspired. So lovely!!!
Way to go! What a great message
That was beautiful!! Great attention to dynamics. The rhythm/tone is an easy fix if you pick up your fingers, esp. in your right hand. Relax and let gravity do the work, particularly in the forte bits. Think of them as the little piano hammers just dropping down from the same height, and you'll have an easier time…keeping even time. Physics, man. I know it's scary to let your fingers leave the safety of the keys, but your sound will be better if you do it. If you hit a couple wrong notes along the way, at least they'll have a pleasanter tone.
How do I know so much about this, you wonder? WELL I've been playing for over 2 decades, and I have the SAME tendency to tense/cling to the keys. 😀 I also disagree on the memorizing front; if no music resulted in making you tense up more/poorer-quality tone, then use the music as a mental safety net!
Well done Tyler! So inspiring! I wasn’t expecting you to do it from memory 😱
I am so proud of you.
The first violin recital I had to do I had to memorise my piece and i solidly skipped half a page lmao you did amazing 🙂
I’m so impressed that you played Bach after only a year in lessons! I have a degree in piano and have taught loads of piano lessons and it’s rare to get such a quick learner who is so dedicated. Great job!!
Tbh wish i was making out with him right now
You should definitely learn some of einaudi’s music 😍😍😍 I Giorni is beautiful as is una mattina
Awww tyler this was awesome! Such a fun video. Props to you for willing to be a beginner at something, you learned a lot in a year. 🙂
Tyler out here proving that it is NEVER too late to try something new!
I loved this video but I was just wondering if you got the parents permission to film their children and then upload it? I'm sure you didn't have bad intentions but some parents don't agree with their children being filmed at such a young age:(
Yay! Good job. I feel like you could've done even better had they/you lowered the bench which makes your arm, hand and wrist positions very different from what you should be used to. It was raised for the children, so not the right height for you!
keep playing tyler. You've come really far from just starting out. Piano is a great instrument for learning how to read music and to understand it. Keep playing. there's also a lot of phone apps and stuff that can help you. metronome apps especially so that you get the timing right and you stay at the same tempo (i tend to speed up without meaning to). GREAT JOB! BRAVO!
This is the wholesome internet content i signed up for
Tyler! Congratulations! I’m proud of you. And I’m humbled by your performance. I’ve been a classically trained musician for 20 years now (I think we’re the same age 30?). I am proud of you because you put effort into something that is difficult. It takes a lot of skill and preparation to be a classical musician and you didn’t let that discourage you! And, performing in a recital is always nerve racking! I hope you continue to build upon your newfound skills. Keep up the wonderful progress! Amazing!
not yet a one bum cheek player but good start 💫
It’s easy to be self critical, so I hope everyone who watches this can see the love and support for someone trying their best and try to feel that way about yourself when you have something you need to do that’s a potential stress point.
This was so amazing. I'm so impressed, you're awesome.
Congrats Tyler!! I'm doing my doctorate in cello performance right now and I'd say after 1 year of lessons you're in a great spot! You memorized the piece, implemented dynamics that followed the harmony, and made it through without stopping! Those are great places to be at when learning a musical instrument! Hope you continue to take lessons and enjoy the process!
Stands up, throws music sheet in the air Bravissimo! Keep going!
I took violin lessons for 11 years and we did recitals like this twice a year…but we worked on our pieces for MONTHS. So impressed you learned it in a week, and also feeling inspired to pick up my violin again.
Twoset should react to this!!
This is the inspiration I needed! I am literally ONE PIANO TEST short of getting my music degree. I haven't gone back to re-take it because of my severe piano performance anxiety. If Tyler can do this, I can too.
I know Maureen is living for this.
What an achievement Tyler! I’ve recently been trying to catch up on my piano playing. It’s a joy to be playing, and please don’t stop.
So inspiring! I just started cello lessons 3 weeks ago. I hope I will have the courage to perform one day!
Naww tyler, I'm so proud of you ❤❤
I feel like it's only natural to learn a lady gaga song. Maybe paparazzi?
awwww he is concentrating so hard, you can tell he like is feeling it. SO AMAZING!
Good on you for achieving your new years resolution for 2019. You did brilliant😀
The Bach prelude is not a song. Your teacher should have corrected you. A song is a composition with words set to it. A good attempt & a marvelous opportunity to play a Steinway grand. Keep up the good work.
you did so great!!! btw LOVE the tie
I play piano at a music academy and I am wayyy older than the majority of the students, but I think it's nice how music brings people of different ages and backgrounds together. It doesn't matter how well you play, the most importantt thing is that everyone can play and share the joy with others 🙂
It's never too late to learn music! You go, Tyler!
Why does it look like you've aged 10 years in the last 2 or 3
request: nuvole bianche by ludovico einaudi
Oh Tyler! I am so very, very proud of you and what you've accomplished! You were a-ma-zing! I cannot believe how moved I am by you! You did it! You performed beautifully! I too have always wanted to play the piano but YOU DID IT! You made it happen! And you were incredible!. I am sincerely so very proud of you! Keep at it! I look forward to a yearly concert and I, for one among many, will look forward to this happening every year! Bravo!
more piano videos please!! I'm so proud of you, I'm a music teacher and it's really nice to see and show other kids that what you can do if you're dedicated and pull through your goals. Congratulations on your performance!!
Congrats! I've been playing piano for 5 months. You're so lucky to get to play on a Steinway!
good job Tyler! I can attest that after 1 year at 30 it's definitely not an easy piece and you managed it really well!
Why was he last? Cause the program was from youngest to oldest 😊😋
